Haiku #1

Friday, November 7, 2008

"Haiiiikuuuuuu!" Okay, I just yelled that in a Samurai Jack sort of way. Perhaps you don't get that, and it's okay. I, at least know, that my husband does. Of course, it should have been Aku... but the point of this blog is Haiku... anyhow, seems pointless to have to explain something that's supposed to be humorous - so I'll stop.

I was visiting favorite blogs recently and came across Laurie's of Living Out Loud. She does some fantastic artwork by the way. Anyhow, she is introducing a new Haiku Monday (I know, why is every great idea on Monday... one of the hardest days for me to do anything). Of course, I'm not very good at Haiku's (in my opinion)... but the blog is the perfect place to write them because most likely, if someone doesn't like it... you'll never know. Unless they are cold and heartless and tell you in your comments. But I have the power to delete - so I'm not scared.
Okay, I seem to be getting off subject a lot today. So, here's my attempt at the theme for this week "Gratitude". I definitely have much to be thankful for. Even when I sit in the pit of my disastrous house - I'm thankful that it's my house and my disaster. Yep, I'm that twisted... or content... or lazy. You choose.

I still need a little more to focus on to write a Haiku, so I'll post a picture and write a haiku about it. Here it goes!

Passion in a child
A Paleontologist
Feels it in his bones
Is that right? It may not be good... but did I at least get the syllables correct? Okay, it's my first one since elementary school... cut me some slack!

I looooooooooove it! It's just perfect - and funny, too!

And I, too, am strangely grateful for my pit of a house... (I bet my pit is more pitty than yours! :D )

Oh! And while it is Haiku Monday, you actually have all week to do it. So just call it Haiku Day - Optional!

What a great blog, Kayce! I love the way you write . . . .such a dry sense of humor. I'll look forward to more posts!
