Tea Time Thursday
Thursday, June 11, 2009
Today has already been a busy day and it's just after noon. But I still managed to pull off a tea party with very little in the house. The plan was to do a pink tea party this week - but I could only come up with pink yogurt and ham (none of which I had in the house)... so we decided to just have a plain ol' tea party with whatever I could find.
I also took this opportunity to use my favorite cupcake stand. I love this thing and it worded out perfect! Of course, it uses a lot of cupcake liners (24) - but we only do these once a week and I don't always use this stand... so it's a little treat (for me - the kids could care less)
By the way, did you see Top Chef Masters last night? They had to make a dessert for 4 Girl Scouts. I love it because the winner, ultimately, was the one with what I thought was the fancier dessert - but it won the kids over because it had a little chocolate mouse. It just goes to show that presentation does matter with kids.
So, the kids dined on (from the top down) hot dog pieces that I fried up with a bread heart crouton on top, rice crispy treats made with the strawberry flavored marshmallows and topped with pink sprinkles (we made these yesterday), miniature jelly sandwiches with a heart cut out of the center (that was where the heart crouton came from), grapes, string cheese circles, raisins and peanuts.
I missed last week's tea time as I was preparing for a show the following day - but check out Adventures of a Flake - they had one and it looks like fun! I am hoping that once the end of the school year is past us and we are home from our vacation (we leave in a week), that I'll be able to get back to doing themed Tea Parties. Next week we are soooo busy with end of the school year activities that I think it's a little too crazy for me to do a themed party - in fact, I'll be lucky to do one at all.
I hope to get some pictures of my son's teacher's gifts taken soon to share. They are really cute. I think we will be working on a few more over the weekend as well. Since we didn't do anything for Teacher Appreciation week, we are doing a few different things to show them our appreciation for all that they've done.

I adore what you do with your kids. This idea is so lovely and very special. Well done!
what a clever use of a cupcake stand
I love that cupcake stand and have been eyeing them at the store for a while now.
I haven't gotten around to tea time yet, I was sick yesterday and still recovering, but I hope to do it this afternoon.
Super cute!
In regards to the cupcake liners, have you thought of getting silicone cupcake liners? I know they exist, my mom bought some at Michael's a while back. They're the same size and shape as regular liners, or they have heart, square and diamond shapes.
