Bento #5

Another stab at a Bento lunch for the kids! I had to go out and buy a few different size Bento boxes as I was finding it difficult to get some things to fit into the same little box every time. Darn - a shopping trip to Daiso!

Muffin Tins and Bento Lunches seem to bring the kids back to some sort of routine - so I'm trying to do them regularly as I think they like the comfort of them. This one used the cute little dino sandwich cutter (I found mine at Walmart)- only problem is the breads we eat are a bit squattier and wider. I made it work though and I like that it gives me a sandwich for each box. I need to figure out more sandwich types that they'll eat. Perhaps the kids and I will experiment together. I seem to have a better chance of getting them to eat it if I can make it seem like it was their idea.

So, here are the contents (sorry Blogger turned the picture again - Ugh!):

  • Sweet Potato Fries (these are left overs from The Blazing Onion... yum!)
  • Dinosaur jelly sandwich - he's on top of a bed of lettuce
  • mixed nuts
  • String cheese stumps
  • Chicken strips cut into chunks (again, these were left overs from The Blazing Onion)
Lyssie ate everything except the chicken (they were her left overs and I have a feeling she has a general rule not to eat her left overs). Robbie ate everything but the lettuce. I guess you can't ask for much more than that!

I am anxious to make more adventurous and interesting lunches. But, I guess there is nothing wrong with starting out simple.

That bento box lunch looks SO cute!! I have a bento box too and I'm also finding it challenging to fit some food items.
