Brrrr... it's cold!

It's been really cold here... in the teens some mornings when Robbie heads off to school. So we've been making sure that he takes a hat, coat and scarf in addition to his thick winter coat. But this week, the knit scarves have been coming home covered in leaves. I guess when it gets dragged or dropped, it picks up everything on the ground.

So, I had to come up with something different. Of course... there is no shortage of tshirt scraps in this house, so that was what I used. I stitched together several scraps and a few of his favorite outgrown tshirts to make him a scarf that he could easily just shake the leaves off of.

I even added a small pocket at the bottom for him to keep tissues in... you know, the nose tends to run in cold weather and I want to be sure this doesn't stop him out there at recess.

He was very excited about the scarf... especially since I used one of his old tshirts that he decorated himself with dinosaurs. While I had to give this to him now... it would make a great Christmas gift for any kid who has favorite tshirts that they've outgrown.
I hope to share some of the homemade gifts that I'll be giving this year as well... but they'll have to wait until the New Year as many of the recipients read this blog. Wouldn't want to spoil the fun of the holiday!
We are off to Portland tomorrow to vend in the Crafty Wonderland show on Sunday. If you live in the Portland area, stop by! I'm excited that several of my favorite EtsyRAINers will be there as well.
