Work in Progress Wednesday - Puppets
Wednesday, June 3, 2009
We are currently preparing for this weekend's 2 day show on Bainbridge Island. This means not only do I need to be sewing - but Robbie is also working on his puppets - and his new doll design. Of course, until I have time to give him sewing lessons... I have to do all the stitching. Yesterday I spend a good chunk of time making eyes and preparing all the materials for him to make hi puppets and dolls. He went right to work as soon as he got home from school. What a disciplined little boy!
I finally started chaining the eyes together as I was getting tired of cutting and snipping every few stitches. It went much faster this way. I really need to remember this technique more often.
Robbie and Lyssie playing a little while working. All the puppets get an introduction once they've been made. Here Lyssie is talking to each of them with her new doll that he brother made her.
Robbie designing a finger puppet. We have a system now where he puts them on these small boards I had around (they were supposed to be for displaying tacks but I haven't found frames for them yet) - and then I sew it all together just as he has specified. There have been occasions were I didn't do it correctly and he has to "fix" what I've done - haha :)
Robbie in his workspace which is the floor of my yet-to-be-organized sewing room. You can see the three boxes of tshirt scraps behind him. We are starting to make a small dent in them (I can now close all three boxes). Of course, when I start making the dresses again - we are going to have a problem.
