Tea Time Thursday

Thursday, May 28, 2009

Back to routine - although this one took a bit of scavenging around the fridge for something to serve - I was still able to pull of a tea party for our Tea Time Thursday. My son got off the bus in quite the foul mood complaining about it being too hot. I told him to suck it up and change his attitude because no one likes a grump at a tea party. Luckily he was able to snap out of it and politely poured tea (milk) for his eager sister.

Today I offered a bit of everything - hotdogs wrapped in bread (with some hotdog curls since my daughter doesn't eat the bread), gold fish swimming around a pool of turkey, grapes, raisins, yogurt covered raisins, pepperoni, edamame, carrots, string cheese and granola bars.

I really need to find more small, healthy food that I can use in both muffin tins and during tea parties. I also need to find sandwiches that my kids will eat. I was out of jelly and they won't eat egg or tuna.

** Check out Adventures of a Flake for their tea party. She shares some of her teapots too!

I saw on some site (can't remember where) sandwiches that were made with peanut butter and apples. Since we have many nut free places here, I've made them with cream cheese. They are made with bread slices that have been rolled flat then put on cream cheese and apple slices and roll back up and cut up like a sushi roll.
The kids love them and it's something different than the PB&J sandwiches that they eat everyday.

Funny - you might have seen it here as I have a tutorial on making those (http://worldofwhimm.blogspot.com/2009/04/peanut-butter-apple-sushi-tutorial.html). I can't seem to get my daughter to eat them though. So I tried it with hotdogs. However, they won't eat anything with the hotdogs to hold the bread closed... so I had to use toothpicks. Same concept though! Cream cheese sounds good. I love cream cheese and turkey sandwiches. Mix a little bit of herbs into the cream cheese and they are delicious!

Thanks for the comment!
