Work in Progress Wednesday

Right now I have several projects in near completion stage. I was hoping by this time this week, I'd have the Super Hero Cuff order complete. While I haven't finished it - I am very close. I have 13 sets left to sew buttons on... and really, only 5 of them are for the order. This last stage will take me about an hour or so for all 13 sets (I hope). I was enjoying sewing the buttons on with some sunshine coming in through the window. It's a beautiful day as long as you admire it from inside. Once you step out, you experience freezing temperatures.

I've also started sewing the kid's tshirt dresses again. I've had a few design ideas kicking around in my head and it was time to get them out. I've made three or four pieces (some dresses, some skirts) in the last several days. The one I am currently working on has been in progress for near a week now. I really wish I had a dress form that was my daughter's size. When designing a new dress, I have to use the one I have - which is a 3/4. So the dresses that come off of it are just a bit too big for her (she's an 18mo - 24 mo dress size right now). But this dress is almost complete. I have to sew on the flowers and buttons - there are decorative buttons in the back to (part of working with recycled tshirts is covering some of the minor flaws - like bleach spots - this is one of my favorite parts about working with recycled materials) and I need to finish the bottom of the skirt. But I think I know how I'm going to finish it off... so it won't take long. Just the right thread color in the machine and I haven't made it around to pink yet :)

I also broke down and pulled out the ironing board the other day. I did a less than perfect job of ironing the top just so that I could get to the border stage. I hate how much ironing holds me up. So today, I stitched the border on. I need to finish the corners off... then iron. Ugh! I still don't know what I'll be putting on back... but I'm fairly certain it'll be a sheet of some sort. I really don't feel like piecing a backing. But I'm happy with the way the border looks - thanks to Meghan and Marlo for helping me out!

This work in progress post is getting long. I'm sure as it nears the summer and all the craft shows, these posts will be even longer. I often have 5-10 projects going on at the same time. While it keeps things new and fun... it can get a bit overwhelming at times.

a work in progress post means you're working - that is a good thing! I've been in such an unmotivated funk lately. ugh. doing anything is like pulling teeth. I am absolutely amazed by the amount of sewing/blogging and picture taking you get done. whew.

I like the green border (i'm into green) the clear, bright color is a perfect compliment to your quilt palette. I totally agree about piecing the back. After finishing a quilt, the last thing I ever want to do is piece a back.

It's looking great so far! The green really does look great...Meghan is awesome with the color stuff! (I just held things up...haha!)
