Bento #4

Friday, November 28, 2008

It's been a while since my last Bento attempt and the kids have been anxiously awaiting another one. So here it is! I think I'm at least getting a little more creative as the first thing that Lyssie said when she opened hers was "Autotopus!"

Contents: corn, crackers and pepperoni; rice ball, tofu, hotdog octopus ontop of steam veggies (carrots, peas and broccoli).

Lyssie ate the octopus, a little tofu, some pepperoni, a few carrots, the crackers and some corn. I felt victorious. Robbe ate everything except for about a quarter of the corn.

I really wish I kept more fruits on hand - but with Lyssie not able to eat them... they often go to waste before they are used. I feel bad giving Robbie fruit and Lyssie none. I do give her the banana occasionally while he enjoys fruit... but she gets tired of it really quickly. These bento boxes would be much easier to make colorful if I could just add some fruit.

I did find some small containers with lids though that will fit into the boxes. I'm hoping that I can use these for jello or pudding for a little extra treat. We'll have to wait to see how that works out.

I love your posts about the bento boxes and muffin tin lunches. I only wish that I was young enough to pull them off for my lunches. :)
