Puget Sound Indie Arts in Edmonds - Part 1

Tuesday, April 29, 2008

So the EtsyRAIN street team, Puget Sound Indie Arts (PSIA), will be holding their first every Craft Show next weekend on Saturday, May 10th. While there are some artists in the group I have yet to meet, I do know many of them. I can't wait to meet those that I don't already know. So, what better way to get to know all the artists that will be at the show than to do some quick features each day.

So, here it goes... in no particular order... (I apologize for the formatting issues I'm having with this blog).

Kristen Friesen is the talented artist behind two great Etsy stores; Sweeter Than Me - Bridal and Sweeter than Me Designs. If I hadn't already been through the whole wedding thing... I'd definitely get my jewelry from her Sweeter Than Me - Bridal store. Her pieces are beautiful, unique, and eye catching. All the qualities you would want on your wedding day.

Her other store, Sweeter Than Me Designs is a great collection of your everyday jewelry. Don't mistake that for ordinary though... this jewelry is just a beautiful and unique as her bridal collection. Many of her pieces can be worn both with casual attire as well as formal. My current favorite is the Adrenaline bracelet pictured. I love the citrus yellow separated by the silver loops.

I look forward to meeting Kristin in person next weekend. Stop by and grab one of the free gift bags for the first 50 people, Kristen has contributed items to some of the bags.

Any seller that uses recycled materials grabs my attention. Not only because it's green and good for our planet... but because it's a great indicator of creativity and innovation. Weaving one is one of these sellers. Not only does she have a fabulous name - Junk to Funk-tion, but she also has great looking bags, coffee cozies, rugs and more!

The bag that I've pictured is sold... but I love it and just had to include it in this feature. This is a prime example of innovation... I love the cable handles. How cool is that? The bottom is also a hard bottom (recycled wood sign) and held together with silver upholstery tacks. I'm in awe of the innovation... and I'm a bit sad that this sold. However, I know she will continue to offer new, innovated bags just like this and perhaps one day I'll own one. Of course, that day probably isn't until the kids are a little older and my wardrobe doesn't consist mostly of sweat suits :)
Another seller that I can't wait to meet at the PSIA Craft Fair next weekend. I also need to mention that I love, love, love her contributions to the free gift bags we are giving away to the first 50 people through the door.

I'm not sure she knows this, but I first heard of Beth and her slings when I briefly joined a meet-up group last year. Because it was an eastside mom's group, I was never able to match my schedule to their meet-ups. Fast forward several months and I notice she's part of the EtsyRAIN group.

I've not tried Beth's pouches, but I have heard great things about them... and her 400 sales on Etsy supports everything I've heard. If you are having a baby soon, know someone having a baby... or maybe you already have one, you will want to come check her out.
Like most Etsy sellers, she makes more than just one thing... look at the cute little shoes that she also makes! She makes them custom for just $25!

I feel like I already know her a little bit... but another seller I can't wait to meet. Oh, and I believe she will also be a vendor at the other show I'm doing in Mill Creek.

Okay, now for a seller that I know. I know this seller very well as her son and my son are best friends. I encouraged Cindy to join Etsy after I saw her many crocheted creations. She makes some beautiful shawls for both children and adults (my daughter owns one). She uses great colors and textures along with great designs to make unique and fun shawls.

Among many other things, she makes some really cute reversible dresses. These are her own design and she makes them in a wide range of sizes. I know she's going to have a great selection of these at the craft fair on May 10th.
These are children's items, but she also has some great items for moms... and the show is the day before Mother's Day! Cindy has also contributed some great crochet items to the free gift bags.
Have I mentioned that all these fabulous sellers and more will be in Edmonds on May 10th? Oh... and I'll be there too! Have I also mentioned that free Gift Bags will be given to the first 50 people through the door? Okay, I'm sure I have... but there will also be give aways every hour from the many members of PSIA. It's going to be a great time... don't miss it!

This is a fantastic post. You've introduced me to some shops I didn't know about, either--love that purse and yes, so sad it's sold!
