My First Craft Show
Monday, December 10, 2007
This past weekend, I attended my first craft fair as a vendor! I was nervous and tired and a little hesitant about the venue. But all in all, it turned out to be a great first showing for me. Since I didn't have to pay a table fee, it only cost me a small percentage of my sales and I gained a ton of experience and confidence.
The venue was small and a bit out of the way and we had very little traffic coming through, but I was pleased that my items were well received and adequately priced.
The experience was a bit tiring though. The six hours either in a chair or on my feet was a little bit for my Fibromyalgia. I was definitely feeling it by the end of the show. Thankfully I had my husband and the kids there and my friend Cindy also came by to support me.
After the new year, I'll be on the search for a few more craft fairs. I figure a little more advanced planning and I should be fine. I do need to work on my display though. I felt it was a bit cluttered. I hate clutter since I live in it everyday! But it was hard to not put everything out since each of my items is unique. You just never know what a person is going to want and I'd hate to miss a sale because that perfect items was sitting under the table in box. If anyone has suggestions, I'd love to hear them!
But the best part of the day, by far, was the Etsy Holiday Party that I attended after the show. So much fun being around so many creative people. I'm not a very social person, but the two times I've been around this group, I've felt very comfortable. I love our Seattle street team! Yeah for EtsyRain!
