The first snow

Not of the year - because we had snow in April... but the first snow of this winter. And not only is it the first snow - but I think it could be the coldest we've experienced here in Washington. Normally when we get snow the temperatures remain near freezing for warmer. This time - it's flippin' cold out there! Not only that, but our blasted Seattle winds are here too and that makes for a nasty combination.

Not surprising, our snow experience outside this morning was a short one. Lyssie seems to be getting sick again - it's a hard one to kick this year - so keeping her outside in this weather was not a good idea. Of course, this is the year that she doesn't want to come in. We had to bring her in kicking and screaming.

So, here are a few pictures. I'm sure this show will stick around for a while as our temperatures are supposed to stay where they are or dip a little further. I'm just hoping for no more snow on top of it. This layer of snow is sitting on top of ice. Did I mention that it's cold out there?

This snow was our reminder that we need to get snow gear for the kids again. Lyssie's snow shoes from last year don't fit her. Robbie's snow pants from last year don't fit him. Poor Lyssie doesn't have a proper winter jacket. Time to stock them up on essentials!
